About

Elisabeth Ellefsen is the owner of DesignSalong, a small design company on the southern shores of Norway. She earned her Masters Degree in interior architecture and design at the University in Bergen, (Kunsthøgskolen) Norway in 2003. Elisabeth runs her business from a combined studio, shop and showroom, DesignSalong, in the idyllic coastal village of Tvedestrand. Elisabeth lives in an old house with a cottage garden, in Kilsund, on an island, at the very edge of the Raet National Park.

“ I love to garden, kayak and wander in the woods. I am inspired by the ever changing light and weather, the fjord and the rocky landscape. Living so close to the elements continuoulsy inspires me in my work. I am passionate about craftsmanship, and I have a particular interest in tactile materials like textiles and wood. In fact, my grandmother was educated in textile design, and I trained as a cabinet maker for two years before attending University. I feel so lucky to live in this old house by the sea, surrounded by trees, flowers, birds and animals. And, litterally, with a National Park at my doorstep. I strongly believe that nature, and all it entails, is essential in the formation of a mind. Through my design, I wish to inspire you to bring beauty into your life, and to transform and improve your surroundings.”
